Ahmad 'Ali al-Saharanfuri wa-Ishamatuhu fi Dirasat wa-Nashr Kutub al-Sunnah

This study before us reveals the tremendous efforts exerted by the scholars of India in critically establishing, accurately preserving, and transmitting texts, foremost among them one of its most distinguished scholars, the ḥadīth master Aḥmad ʿAlī al-Sahāranfūrī.

It highlights his significant contributions to the service of the books of ḥadīth through the preparation of copies and critical editing, teaching and publication, following the example of the earlier Imams of transmission and critical scholarship, and thereby adding a luminous contribution to the long record of service to the Prophetic legacy extending across the centuries.

The ḥadīth master Aḥmad ʿAlī al-Sahāranfūrī devoted exceptional attention to the books of ḥadīth. He began teaching them in various madrasahs, spreading the light of the Sunnah and raising the banner of knowledge among his students and disciples. His efforts were not confined to teaching alone, but extended to work with several printing presses devoted to the care of the books of the Sunnah, out of concern for the preservation of the scholarly heritage, safeguarding it from loss, and making its sciences accessible to researchers and students.

Among his most outstanding projects were the carefully verified editions of major works, including Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī and Jāmiʿ al-Tirmidhī. He likewise devoted particular care to the Noble Muṣḥaf, safeguarding its authenticity and preparing it for reading and study in the most complete and accomplished manner. In all of this were manifested a spirit of scholarly trustworthiness and a firm determination to preserve, correct, and establish these texts.

وتَحقيقًا، تَدريسًا ونَشرًا، اقتداءً بمن سبقَه من أئمة الرِّواية والدِّراية، مضيفًا بذلك بصمةً مشرقةً إلى سجلِّ العِناية النَّبويَّة المُمتدّ عبر العُصور.لقد أَولى المُحدِّث أحمَد علِي السَّهار نفُوري عنايةً فائقةً بكتبِ الحديث، فشرع في تدرِيسها في مدَارس متعدِّدة،ناشرًا نُور السنَّة، ورافعًا رايَة العِلم بين طلَّابه ومُريديه. ولم يقتصِر جهدَه على التَّعليم فحسب، بل امتدَّ إلى العمل بمطابع مُتعدّدة خُصّصت للاعتناء بكتب الشنة، حرصًا على دوام التُّراث وصيانته من الضّياع، وإيصال علومه إلى أيدي الباحثين والدَّارسين. ومن أزهى مشَاريعه الطَّباعة الموقّقة لأمهاتِ الكُتب، «صحيح البخاري» و«جامع الترمذي»، إلى جانِب حرصِه على المُصحف الشَّريف، صونًا لأصالتِه، وإعدادًا له للقراءة والدِّراسة، على أكمل وجه وأرفع مستوى، فتجلَّت في ذلك روح الأَمانة وعزيمة الحِفظ والتَّقويم..
