Adab al-Talab wa-Muntaha al-Arab

The eloquent writer and author of brilliant works, the eminent Imam al-Shawkānī, presented this work as a guide for the student of knowledge. In it, he explains what the student should adopt in his pursuit of knowledge, the qualities he should possess in his discourse and conduct, from beginning to end, and what he should begin with and gradually progress towards until he attains his objective.

Among the etiquettes he mentions are sincerity of intention, rectitude of one’s inner disposition, and avoidance of partisanship. He also encourages the study of a number of sciences, such as grammar, morphology, semantics, logic, and others.

قدمه صاحب القلم السيال والمؤلفات اللامعة - الإمام النحرير الشوكاني - منارة لطالب العلم ، وبيّن له ما ينبغي أن يعتمده في طلبه ، وما يجب أن يتحلى به في إيراده وإصداره وابتدائه وانتهائه ، وما الذي يشرع به ويتدرج إليه حتى يبلغ مراده ، ومن جملة ما ذكره من الآداب حسن النية ، وإصلاح الطوية ، والابتعاد عن التعصب . وحثّ على طلب جملة من العلم ، كعلم النحو والصرف والمعاني والمنطق وغيرها .
