Maqalat al-Allamah Mahmud Muhammad al-Tanahi fi al-Turath wa al-Tarajim wa al-Lughah wa al-Adab

Mahmud Tanahi was a master in tarikh, tarajim, lughah and a range of other fields, in addition to being an editor par excellence. His tahqiqat of many multi-volume sets are indisputably the best prints.

This is a valuable collection of various maqalat authored by him, covering a wide range of topics and subjects, all filled with fawaid.

His risalah on Tashih Lughawi is a "must read", while his many anecdotes and experiences shed light on the ilmi environment in Cairo during Its heydays, when it was filled with muhaqqiqin like Mahmud Shakir, Ahmad Shakir, Abd al-Fatah Hilw, Fuad Sayid etc.

Ml Abdul Quddus of DU Zakariya introduced me to this gem of a book nearly 20 years ago, when we are in Cairo for the Bookfair.
