Nafahat min Suhbat Shaykhina al-Allamah Muhammad Awwamah

In these pages, the author has recorded some of the knowledge, spiritual training, counsel, and guidance that flowed from the gatherings of his teacher, the eminent ḥadīth scholar Muḥammad ʿAwwāmah, may Allah Most High preserve him—gatherings that were few in number but abundant in their fruits.

This treatise consists of four articles written at different times, yet all are strung together upon a single thread: love of knowledge, reverence for scholars, and pride in the companionship of great men.

In every line can be sensed the fragrance of those gatherings, in which the Shaykh exalts the importance of proper conduct and instils in hearts an appreciation of the greatness of knowledge. Perhaps the reader will find in these inspirations a ray of light to illuminate his path, or a flame that awakens in his heart a longing for the gatherings of practising scholars, for the etiquette of companionship, and for the beauty of receiving knowledge from one’s teachers.

دوَّن المؤلِّف في هذه الصفحات ما فاضت به مجالس شيخه العلّامة المحدِّث محمد عوّامة حفظه الله تعالى من العلم والتربية، والنُّصح والتوجيه، في لقاءاتٍ قليلةٍ بعددها، كثيرةٍ بثمرتها. وتتوزَّع هذه الرسالة على مقالات أربع، كُتبت في أزمان شتّى، لكنها تنتظم في سلك واحد: حبّ العلم، وتوقير العلماء، والاعتزاز بصحبة الكبار. وفي كل سطرٍ، يفوح عبق تلك المجالس، حيث يُعلي الشيخ من قدر الأدب، ويغرس في النفوس عظمة العلم، فلعلّ القارئ يجد في هذه النفحات قبسًا يضيء له الدرب، أو شُعلة تُوقظ في قلبه الشوق إلى مجالس العلماء العاملين، وإلى أدب الصحبة وجمال التلقّي.
