In it, the author examines a series of old and modern Orientalist claims alleging that the Prophet ﷺ learned the Qur'an and Islam from various external sources. He addresses fourteen such allegations, refuting each one through detailed, systematic, and rigorous scholarly evidence.

The book discusses a number of allegations that have not previously been examined in depth, including claims relating to the Haggadah, the liturgy, the Mandaean Ṣābians, the assertion that the Prophet ﷺ taught himself, and the claim that he derived his teachings from the beliefs of his own people.

It also revisits other well-known allegations that have not received adequate scholarly treatment, including the claims that the Prophet ﷺ learned from Judaism, Christianity, the monk Baḥīrā, pre-Islamic poetry, the Ḥanīfs, Zayd ibn ʿAmr ibn Nufayl, Waraqah ibn Nawfal, Umayyah ibn Abī al-Ṣalt, as well as the question of the Prophet's ﷺ being unlettered (ummī).
