al-Mustadrak 'ala Kitab al-'Ulama' al-'Uzzab

The scholars of all nations have continued to acknowledge the merit of the scholars of the Muslim Ummah. The scholars of our illustrious Ummah remained diligent in the pursuit of knowledge, preoccupied with it to the exclusion of worldly pleasures, to the extent that a group of them refrained from marriage so that it would not distract them from seeking and disseminating knowledge, and they eventually died unmarried—may Allah be pleased with them all.

The eminent scholar ʿAbd al-Fattāḥ Abū Ghuddah, may Allah Most High have mercy on him, undertook to compile the biographies of scholars who remained unmarried, gathering more than thirty biographies. Thereafter, Ustādh Muḥammad Majqān, may Allah preserve him, took up the task of completing what ʿAllāmah Abū Ghuddah had begun, bringing their number to 350 notable scholars. His present work, Al-Mustadrak, is thus a rich and engaging book that is as indispensable as the original work itself.
