Tayyibat al-Nashr

This celebrated poem was composed by the Imam of the Qur’an reciters and leading authority of the masters of Qira’at, Abu al-Khayr Muhammad ibn al-Jazari. It is presented here for students of the Qur’an in a critically verified and corrected edition, prepared in accordance with the principles of textual editing approved by our leading scholars.

In establishing and correcting the text, the editor consulted several manuscript copies of the work, in addition to a number of its commentaries, both printed and manuscript.

This carefully prepared edition of the poem is further distinguished by two useful appendices designed to assist the student. The first explains difficult and obscure words occurring in the text, arranged alphabetically according to their lexical roots. The second gathers those Qur’anic citations in the poem which occur outside the section devoted to their respective Surahs. These are arranged according to the order of the Surahs in the Qur’an, with each citation cross-referenced to the Surah and verse of the poem in which it appears.

منْ نظمِ إمامِ القرّاءِ وحُجةِ المقرِئينَ أبي الخيرِ محمدِ ابنِ الجزَريِّ، قُدِّمتْ لأهلِ القرآنِ محقَّقةً مصحَّحةً وَفْقَ قواعدَ إخراجِ النصوصِ التي اِرتضاها أئمَّتُنا، وقدْ رجعَ المحقِّقُ في تصحيحِ النصِّ إلى عدَّةِ نسخٍ خطيةٍ له، بالإضافةِ إلى عددٍ منْ شروحِ المنظومةِ المطبوعةِ والمخطوطةِ، كما تميَّزتِ النسخةُ الفنيةُ منْ المنظومةِ بمُلحَقينِ يخدُمانِ طالبَ العلمِ: ملحقٌ شرحَ فيهِ الغامضَ منْ كلماتِ المتنِ مرتَّباً على حروفِ الهجاءِ حسبَ المادةِ المُعجميةِ، وملحقٌ ذكرَ فيهِ الشواهدَ التي جاءتْ في غيرِ سوَرِها منَ المنظومةِ مرتباً على سورِ المصحفِ، مع عزوِها إلى المواضعِ التي ذُكرتْ فيها سورةً وبيتاً.
