حاشية العلامة السكتاني على شرح أم البراهين للسنوسي

Hashiyat al-'Allamah al-Saktani 'ala Sharh Umm al-Barahin lil-Sanusi

This is one of the most important glosses on the commentaries of «أم البراهين», if not the most important of them. The eminent scholar Ibn Mubarak al-Sijilmasi would give precedence to no other gloss over it in his lessons. It may therefore rightly be regarded as one of the finest and most meticulous glosses written on the shorter works of Islamic creed.

In this work, the eminent scholar al-Suktani devoted particular care to quoting and critically refining material from the works of the author al-Sanusi, including his commentaries on «الكبرى», «الوسطى», «المقدمات», and «الجزائرية». He also included abundant quotations from «شرح المقترح على الإرشاد», «الأسرار العقلية», «شرح البرهانية», «شرح المقاصد», and other works.

A further indication of its standing and importance is the profound influence it left on the major glosses composed after it. Suffice it to say that its quotations and scholarly insights were carefully traced and utilised by the eminent scholar al-ʿAdawi and his distinguished students: al-Dardir, al-Sharqawi, and al-Dasuqi.

هذه حاشيةٌ من أهمِّ حواشي شروح أمِّ البراهين، إن لم تكن أهمها، وقد كان العلّامة ابن مبارك السلجماسي لا يقدِّم عليها حاشيةً من الحواشي في درسه، فهي تعد بحقٍّ أنفسَ وأدقَّ الحواشي التي كُتبت على صغرى العقائد. وقد اعتنى العلّامة السُكتاني فيها بالنقل والتحرير من كتب المصنِّف السنوسي، من شروح الكبرى والوسطى والمقدمات والجزائرية، مع نقولاتٍ وفيرةٍ كثيرةٍ من شرح المقترح على الإرشاد، والأسرار العقلية، وشرح البرهانية، وشرح المقاصد، وغيرها. وممّا يدل على مكانتها وأهميتها؛ ما تركتْه في الحواشي العظيمة التي أُلفت بعدها، وناهيك بحاشيةٍ تتبّع نقولاتِها وفوائدَها العلّامةُ العدوي وتلامذته الكبار: الدردير والشرقاوي والدسوقي.
