شرح بردة المديح للمحلي وعليه حاشية الدسوقي

Sharh Burdat al-Madih li-al-Mahalli wa-'Alayhi Hashiyat al-Dasuqi

The Burdah of Imam al-Būṣīrī, who died in the seventh century AH, is perhaps the most famous poem in praise of the Prophet ﷺ in all of Arabic poetry. It became extremely widespread among Muslims, and gatherings came to be held for its recitation, explanation, and study, until these gatherings became a celebrated feature throughout the world under the name “Gatherings of the Noble Burdah.”

This poem opened a new chapter in the world of Prophetic praise poetry: poets composed poems in emulation of it, critics and literary scholars wrote commentaries upon it, and masters of eloquence drew deeply from its rhetoric. Among the most prominent of these scholars was Imam Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī (d. 864 AH), who wrote this commentary and entitled it Al-Anwār al-Muḍiyyah fī Madḥ Khayr al-Bariyyah. He was followed by Shams al-Dīn al-Dasūqī (d. 1230 AH), the leading Mālikī scholar of his age, who wrote a valuable marginal commentary upon it containing insightful additions and corrections.

This edition has been collated against the finest manuscript copies of the work and concludes with a number of specialised indexes that reveal the treasures contained within the book.

لعل بُردة الإمام البوصيري المُتوفّى في القرن السابع الهجري أشهر قصيدة في مدح النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في الشعر العربي كله، فقد انتشرت بين أهل الإسلام انتشارًا واسعًا، وصارت تُعقد لها المجالس للقراءة والشرح والمُدارسة، حتى غدت مجالسها شامة مشهورة في العالم بـ«مجالس البُردة الشريفة»، وصارت هذه القصيدة فتحًا جديدًا في عالم المدائح النبوية يُعارضها الشعراء، ويشرحها النقّاد والأدباء، وينهل من بلاغتها البلغاء، وكان من أبرز هؤلاء الإمام جلال الدين المحلِّي ت864هـ، فكتب هذا الشرح، وسمّاه «الأنوار المُضية في مدح خير البرية»، ثم جاء من بعده إمام المالكية في زمانه شمس الدين الدسوقي ت1230هـ، وكتب عليه حاشية نفيسة واستدراكات بديعة، فكانت هذه الطبعة مقابلة على أنفس نسخ الكتاب الخطية، وختمناها بجملة من الفهارس الفنية الكاشفة لكنوز الكتاب.
