Ma'alim fi Tariq al-Ilm

In this book, Shaykh Abū al-Ḥasan al-Nadwī, may Allah Most High have mercy on him, addresses students of knowledge in particular and Muslim youth in general, sharing with them his extensive scholarly experience and his long practical experience in the fields of education, upbringing, reform, spiritual purification, daʿwah, and leadership.

He reminds them of the religious responsibilities resting upon their shoulders and the civilisational duties entrusted to them. The book also contains guidance, instructions, and advice for teachers, educators, leaders, administrators of Islamic schools, those in charge of research centres, and those responsible for daʿwah institutions.

Shaykh al-Nadwī urges all of them to greater endeavour and calls upon each one individually to fulfil the role required of them during this critical period in the history of Islam and the Muslims, so that the Muslim Ummah may return anew to its religion and benefit from its immense treasures that are absent from the marketplace of humanity. Thus, by the grace and enabling of Allah Most High, it may once again be able to lead humanity, so that the earth, scorched by materialist philosophies, may find shelter beneath the abundant shade of Islam, and both the afflicted and the prosperous among the nations of the earth may alike find warmth in the reviving embrace of the Sharīʿah.

خاطبَ الشيخ أبو الحسن الندوي رحمه الله تعالى في هذا الكتاب طلبة العلم خاصة، والشبيبة المسلمة عامة، وضمَّنه خبراتِه العلمية الواسعة وتجاربه العملية الطويلة في مجال التعليم، والتربية، والإصلاح، والتزكية، والدعوة، والقيادة، وذكَّرهم فيه بمسؤولياتِهم الدينيّة الملقاة على عواتقهم، ومهَامهم الحضارية المنوطة بكواهلهم. ولم يخلُ الكتاب من توجيهات وإرشادات ونصائح للمعلِّمين، والمربِّين، والقياديِّين، ومسؤولي المدارس الإسلامية، وأصحاب المراكز البحثيَّة، والقائمين على المؤسَّسات الدعويَّة.
وقد استحثَّ الشيخ الندوي هممهم جميعًا، ودعاهم فردًا فردًا؛ ليقوموا بالدور المطلوب منهم في هذه الفترة العصيبة من تاريخ الإسلام والمسلمين؛ لتعودَ الأمة الإسلامية إلى دينها من جديد، وتستفيدَ من ثرواته الهائلة الغائبة في سوق البشر، فتتمكَّن - بفضل الله تعالى وتوفيقه - من قيادة العالَم الإنساني من جديد، وتستظلَّ الأرض المحرَقة من جرّاء الفلسفات المادية بظلال الإسلام الوارفة، ويستدفئ بدفءِ الشريعة المنعِشِ المعذَّبون والمنعَّمون من أمم الأرض على حدٍّ سواء.
