هذا كتاب حدث الشيخ فيه عن أركان الإسلام الأربعة: الصلاة والزكاة، والصوم، والحج، عن وضعها السماوي، وحقيقتها الشرعية، وتشريعها في الإسلام، ومكانتها في الدين، وفي الحياة الفردية والاجتماعية، وعن مقاصدها وأسرارها كما قررها الكتاب والسنة، وفهمها المسلمون في القرون المشهود لها بالخير، والمتمسكون بلباب الدين، والراسخون في العلم في مختلف العصور والأجيال، في غير تكلف عجمي وتنطع فلسفي، وتطرف شخصي، وفي غير خضوع لأفكار أجنبية واتجاهات عصرية، وفي غير إخضاع ـ لمعانيها وحكمها ونظمها ومناهجها ـ للفلسفات السياسية والمذاهب الاقتصادية والاجتماعية السائدة في عصورهم وأمصارهم.ويقول الشيخ رحمه الله: وقد درست ـ زمن تأليفه ـ القرآن الكريم من جديد، ومصادر السنة ودواوينها الصحيحة، وما كُتب في موضوع هذه الأركان وشرحها وتفسيرها، وبيان مقاصدها وأسرارها، وعُنيت بصفة خاصة بكتابات الأئمة الذين شرح الله صدرهم لفهم مقاصد الإسلام وروحه، والوصول إلى أعماقه، في غير تفريط وإفراط، وتكلف وإغراق، ووفقوا لبيان مقاصد الشريعة الإسلامية وأسرار التنزيل وحكم التشريع، كما أرادها الشرع، وكما فهمها المسلمون الذين توجهته إليهم الخطاب، ونزل في لغتهم الكتاب، وكانوا يجمعون بين الفهم العميق، والعلم الغزير، والعمل القوي، والاتباع الدقيق (للرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم) والمجاهدة الدائبة في مجال العلم والعمل، فتمهدت لهم السبل ولانت لهم الصعاب، وقد قال الله تعالى (والذين جاهدوا فينا لنهدينهم سبلنا وإن الله لمع المحسنين) وقد تشبعوا بروح هذه العبادات، كما تضلعوا في علومها، ومارسوها بصدق وإيمان، كما دارسوها بدقة وإمعان، فنطقت هذه الأركان على لسانهم، وعبرت عن مكنوناتها ومضمراتها في شرحهم وبيانهم.فبدأ بالكتاب والسنة وما ورد عن هذا الأركان، وعن روحها وحقيقتها، ومقاصدها وآدابها، في القرآن والحديث، وأردف ذلك بما جاء في كتب هؤلاء الأئمة في تفسيرها وتفصيلها، وتوجيهها وتعليمها، وجاء تفصيلاً للمجمل، وتبسيطاً ـ للموجز، ونقل بعض أقوال العلماء المعاصرين، وذلك كله في أسلوب أدبي عصري، فجاء الكتاب بحول الله يجمع بين القديم والجديد، ويمثل المكتبة الإسلامية الزاخرة في هذا الموضوع، ويعرضها عرضاً جديداً للجيل الإسلامي الجديد، فقد كادت صلته تنقطع عن كتب المتقدمين وأساليبهم، وخير ما دبجته أقلامهم وفاضت به خواطرهم، فكان ذلك خطراً على الجيل الجديد، وتفريطاً في حق السلف، وإساءة إلى المكتبة الإسلامية التي لا تدانيها مكتبة دينية في أمة من الأمم، وقد توارثت هذه الأمة فهم معاني العبادات وحقيقتها ومقاصدها كما توارثت أوضاعها وأشكالها وأحكامها وآدابها، وتوارثت العمل بها من غير انقطاع أو فترة، أو جهالة أو غفلة، حتى وصل إلينا هذا الدين، متواتراً متصلاً، في المعاني والأشكال، والمقاصد والهيئات، فليس لأحد في هذا العصر أن يبتكر لركن هذه الأركان، مفهوماً لم تعرفه هذه الأمة في عمرها الطويل، أو يلبسه لباساً (مستورداً) من الخارج أو مستعاراً من أجنبي.
In this work, the author examines the four practical pillars of Islam—prayer, zakāh, fasting, and ḥajj—exploring their divine origin, their legal reality, their legislation in Islam, and their place in both religion and individual and social life. He explains their objectives and inner wisdom as established by the Qur'an and the Sunnah, and as understood by the earliest generations of Muslims, the scholars firmly grounded in knowledge, and those who adhered to the essence of the religion throughout the centuries. The book consciously avoids philosophical speculation, personal extremism, and the influence of foreign ideologies or contemporary intellectual trends, presenting these acts of worship according to the understanding of the Islamic tradition.
The author explains that, while preparing the book, he undertook a fresh study of the Qur'an, the authentic collections of hadith, and the major works written on these pillars, paying particular attention to the writings of scholars who were granted a profound understanding of the objectives and spirit of Islam without excess or neglect. Beginning with the Qur'an and Sunnah, he gathers the texts relating to the spirit, reality, objectives, and etiquette of these acts of worship, then supplements them with the explanations of the great classical scholars, together with selected insights from contemporary scholars.
Written in a clear and engaging modern literary style, the book successfully bridges the classical Islamic heritage and the needs of the contemporary reader. It introduces a new generation to the rich legacy of the Islamic scholarly tradition while affirming the continuous transmission of the authentic understanding of worship—its meanings, purposes, rulings, and practice—through every generation of the Muslim community. The author concludes that no one in the present age has the authority to redefine these pillars according to concepts unknown to the Muslim Ummah throughout its long history, or to recast them in the mould of imported foreign philosophies or ideologies.
