الإسلام والوجه الآخر للفكر الغربي

For decades we have been levelling accusations against Orientalists, and against Western thinkers in general. In one sense this is justified; it is a reaction to the accumulated falsehoods and fabrications that have been carefully and maliciously constructed.

But what if we were to add another effort alongside this—one that seeks to follow and gather the positive testimonies given in appreciation of one aspect or another of Islam: its Qur'an, its Prophet, its creed, its law, its history, and its civilisation?

These are testimonies which, when presented to the Western thinker who made them, he would affirm a second, third, and fourth time, for he uttered them only because of Islam's ability, in one aspect or another, to demonstrate its distinction, superiority, and effectiveness.

The enemies of Islam, both within and without, will lose nothing if we continue to write only about the dark face of Orientalism and Western thought. But as for the other face, which is obscured by the darkness of prejudice and covered by the shadows of hatred, bringing it to light and casting attention upon it may lead them back to something of the truth, especially when they see it coming from one of their own.

This book is not confined to a discussion of Orientalists in the technical sense of the term. In addition, it includes a number of Western and Eastern thinkers who expressed their clear views about Islam, its miraculous Book, and its noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Some of them ultimately came to embrace this religion with genuine sincerity.

This book remains an open project for the many non-Muslims who have spoken "a word of truth" about this religion throughout the East and the West—and whose numbers continue to increase day after day.

عشرات السنين ونحن نكيل التهم للمستشرقين، والمفكرين الغربيين بشكل عام، وهذا حق بشكل من الأشكال، إنه ردّ الفعل إزاء ركام من الأباطيل والأضاليل المرسومة بخبث وعناية... ولكن ماذا لو أضفنا إلى هذا جهداً آخر يسعى لمتابعة والتقاط شهادات التقويم الإيجابية بحق هذا الجانب أو ذاك من جوانب الإسلام قرآناً ونبياً وعقيدة وشريعة وتاريخاً وحضارةً؟!...

تلك الشهادات التي إذا ما عرضت المفكر الغربي أكدّ صدقها، ثانية وثالثة ورابعة، لأنه لم يقلها إلاّ بدافع قدرة الإسلام،في جانب ما من جوانبه، على تأكيد تميزه وتفوّقه وفاعليته.إن أعداء الإسلام، في الداخل والخارج، لن يضيرهم شيء إن ظللنا نكتب عن الوجه الأسود للإستشراق والفكر الغربي، أما الوجه الآخر الذي تطمس عليه ظلمة التعصّب، وتغطيه ظلال الكراهية، فإن كشفه وتسليط الضوء عليه قد يردّهم إلى شيء من الصواب، وهم يرونه يصدر عن واحد من أصحابهم!!...وهذا الكتاب لا يقتصر فقط على حوار المستشرقين بالمعنى الإصطلاحي للكلمة، بل إنه يتضمن - فضلاً عن ذلك - عدداً من مفكري الغرب والشرق، ممن قالوا كلمتهم الواضحة في الإسلام، وكتابه المعجز، ونبيه الكريم (عليه أفضل الصلاة والسلام)، وقد آل الأمر ببعضهم إلى الإنتماء الجاد المخلص لهذا الدين.ويبقى هذا الكتاب مشروعاً مفتوحاً لحشود من غير المسلمين قالوا "كلمة الحق" في هذا الدين... عبر مشارق الدنيا ومغاربها... وهم يزدادون عدداً يوماً بعد يوم
