Sharh al-Tashil li-Ibn Malik al-Musamma Tamhid al-Qawa'id bi-Sharh Tashil al-Fawa'id

Tamhīd al-Qawāʿid bi-Sharḥ Tashīl al-Fawāʾid is the monumental commentary of Nāẓir al-Jaysh (d. 778 AH) on Ibn Mālik's celebrated Tashīl al-Fawāʾid wa Takmīl al-Maqāṣid, one of the foundational texts of the Arabic grammatical tradition.

Widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive commentaries on the Tashīl, the work goes far beyond explaining the wording of the original, developing into a vast encyclopaedia of classical Arabic grammar and the scholarly discussions surrounding it.

Nāẓir al-Jaysh carefully analyses Ibn Mālik's opinions alongside those of leading grammarians—particularly Abū Ḥayyān and earlier authorities—comparing their arguments, examining the evidence of the Qur'an, Hadith, and classical Arabic poetry, and tracing the development of grammatical thought across the major schools.
