An inspiring work on the qualities and deeds of those who will be foremost in entering Paradise, by the distinguished Moroccan Ḥadīth scholar Shaykh ʿAbd Allāh al-Talīdī.

Drawing upon the Noble Qurʾān and the Prophetic Sunnah, the author explores the characteristics of the righteous who attain Allah's pleasure, forgiveness and salvation from punishment. His objective is to encourage Muslims to strive for the highest ranks of righteousness by identifying the qualities and actions through which believers may hope to enter Paradise without reproach or punishment.

The book opens with an account of the Ṣaḥābah's profound concern for their ultimate fate in the Hereafter. The author discusses their eagerness to learn which actions would admit them into Paradise, including the request of Rabīʿah ibn Kaʿb al-Aslamī رضي الله عنه to accompany the Prophet ﷺ in Paradise, and the request of Anas ibn Mālik رضي الله عنه for the Prophet's intercession.

The main discussion is divided into two sections.

The first section examines the characteristics of those who are foremost in righteousness as described in the Qurʾān. The author gathers and explains verses concerning faith, righteous deeds and the qualities of the Muttaqīn (the God-fearing). He discusses both the positive characteristics of the righteous, particularly their steadfastness in obedience to Allah and sincerity in worship, and their avoidance of prohibited actions.

Special attention is given to the characteristics of the Awliyāʾ of Allah as described in the Qurʾān, the importance of steadfastness (Istiqāmah) and the relationship between righteousness and spiritual excellence. The author also explains that infallibility is not a condition for attaining the rank of Wilāyah, emphasising the importance of repentance and returning to Allah after committing sins.

This leads to a discussion of Tawbah (repentance), supported by Qurʾānic verses and Prophetic Aḥādīth, followed by an examination of Shafāʿah (intercession) on the Day of Judgement. The author discusses the intercession of the Prophet ﷺ, the Qurʾān, fasting, the angels, the Prophets, the martyrs and the believers, together with narrations concerning the salvation of those who die upon Tawḥīd.

The second section examines those promised Paradise or forgiveness in the Prophetic Sunnah. Here, the author gathers a selection of Aḥādīth describing particular individuals and categories of believers who have received glad tidings of Allah's mercy and forgiveness.

Among the narrations discussed are the seven categories of people who will receive Allah's shade on the Day of Judgement, the virtues of certain deeds that lead to Paradise, and reports concerning individuals whose sins were forgiven through their faith, sincerity or righteous actions.

The author also examines Aḥādīth concerning deeds that necessitate Paradise, protection from the Fire, the forgiveness of sins and the companionship of the righteous in the Hereafter. These include the well-known Prophetic assurance that a person will be with those whom he loves.

Throughout the book, Shaykh al-Talīdī combines Qurʾānic guidance, Prophetic narrations and practical spiritual advice, demonstrating that the path to Paradise is founded upon sincere faith, obedience, repentance, righteous conduct and hope in Allah's immense mercy.

Published by Dār al-Bashāʾir al-Islāmiyyah, Beirut, the first edition (1425 AH / 2004 CE) comprises 136 pages in one paperback volume.
