Hidayat al-Nahw, attributed to the distinguished scholar Abu Hayyan Siraj al-Din al-Awdahi al-Hindi (d. 758 AH), is regarded as one of the finest and most beneficial introductory works on Arabic grammar (Nahw). Allah has blessed this work with widespread acceptance in Islamic madrasahs and institutions of learning throughout India, Pakistan, and other countries that follow the Dars-e-Nizami curriculum.

Ustadh Farman Haider, a teacher at the AS Academy in Lahore, has prepared a comprehensive commentary on this celebrated text, entitled Kifayat al-Nahw. In composing it, he has carefully observed the essential requirements of a beneficial commentary, taking into consideration the level of the students, employing clear and accessible language, and arranging the material systematically in an elegant and engaging style. He has thus rendered a valuable service to students of knowledge.

One of the most outstanding features of this commentary is its emphasis on practical exercises, discussion, and active learning. The author provides a variety of questions and exercises for each topic discussed, supplementing his explanations with numerous valuable observations, textual illustrations, and examples of grammatical analysis (Iʿrab).

إنّ كتاب "هداية النّحو" - على ما قيل- للشّيخ الفاضل أبي حيّان سراج الدين الأودهيّ الهنديّ (المتوفّ?ى: 758) مِن أحسن وأنفع ما کُتب في علم النّحو للمبتدئين، قد رَزقه الله قَبولًا حسَنًا فى المدارس والجامعات العربيّة الدينيّة في الهند والباکستان والدُّول الأخر?ى، الّتي تَختار لأبنائها "المنهجَ النّظاميّ" کمَنهجٍ دِراسيٍّ
وقد قام الأستاذ: "فرمان حيدر" المدرّس بأکاديميّة (آس) الواقعة بـ(لاهور) بشرحه شرحًا وافيًا، مراعيًا فيه جميعَ مقتضياتِ شرحٍ مفيدٍ من مُراعاة مستوى الدّارسِين، وسُهولة التّعبير، وحُسن التّرتيب بأسلوب أنيقٍ مُمتعٍ، فأجاد إجادةً، وأحسن إلى طلّاب العلم إحسانًا، وسمّاه بـ(کفاية النّحو). ومن أفضل ما فيه؛ حرصُه على التّدريب والمناقشة، وطرحُه لأسئلة متنوّعة لكلّ عنوان أو موضوع يَمُرّ به، وضَمّن ذلكَ كثيرًا من الفوائد والشّواهد والنّماذج الإعرابيّة، فتعدّدت أمثلته، وتنوّعتْ شواهدُه، وكمُلتْ فائدته بما قدّم من تدريبات على درس، فأفاد القارئ والدّارس على مستوى المتن والهامش. وحقًّا إنّه عملٌ طيّب، ونِتاجٌ علميٌّ قَيّم؛ يُخبر عن فكر العالم الواعيْ، ونُبل الهدَف؛ لأنّه يَرتقي بمستوى الدّارس إلى الفهم والاستيعاب والتّطبيق
