Aʿlām al-Nubalāʾ bi-Tārīkh Ḥalab al-Shahbāʾ (أعلام النبلاء بتاريخ حلب الشهباء) by the distinguished Aleppine historian Muḥammad Rāghib al-Ṭabbākh (d. 1370 AH/1951 CE) is a monumental history of Aleppo, combining a chronological account of the city with extensive biographies of its notable figures.
The work traces Aleppo’s history from its earliest periods, discussing its geography, origins, political history, rulers, major events, civilisation and urban development. Alongside this, al-Ṭabbākh records the lives of the scholars, jurists, judges, rulers, poets, writers and other prominent personalities associated with the city across successive centuries.
Drawing upon a large body of earlier historical and biographical literature, the work preserves a wealth of material concerning Aleppo’s political, intellectual, religious and cultural heritage. It is therefore an important reference not only for the history of the city itself, but also for the scholarly and intellectual history of Syria and the wider Islamic world.
Sorry, it's out of stock.
But we can let you know when it's back in.
