Akhbar al-Qadi Mundhir ibn Sa'id al-Balluti wa-Siratuhu

The book before us contains between its covers the biography of one of those great luminaries: the jurist, preacher, and judge Shaykh Mundhir ibn Saʿīd al-Ballūṭī, may Allah Most High have mercy on him.

Imam Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr, who was among the most learned and widely cultured scholars of his age, recognised the immense merit and learning of al-Ballūṭī, the teacher of his teachers, and appreciated his lofty rank and eminent standing. He therefore devoted this book specifically to him, presenting his life in detail and comprehensively relating his accounts, achievements, and virtues. He gathered the material for his book from the wealth of biographical and historical works, as well as from reports he himself transmitted and heard.

الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا، يضم بين دفَّتيه سيرةُ أحَدٍ أولئك الأعلام الكبار، هو: الشيخ الفقيه الخطيب القاضي منذر بن سعيد البلوطي رحمه الله تعالى.
والإمام ابن عبد البر، الذي كان من أوسع علماء عصره علما، و أغزرهم ثقافة، عَرَفَ عظيمَ فضلِ شيخِ شيوخِه: البلوطي، وعلمه، وأدرك سُمُوَّ منزلته وعلو شأنه، فخصَّه بهذا الكتاب، عارِضاً سيرة حياته مستقصياً فيها أخباره ومآثره ومناقبه، وقد جمع مادة كتابه من مخزون كتب التراجم والسير، ومن مروياته ومسموعاته
