Sayf al-Din Qutuz

The book discusses the life of Sultan Sayf al-Dīn Quṭuz, who was at the head of power in Egypt when the Mongol hordes invaded the lands of Syria on their way to occupy Egypt.

He was the man of the hour who confronted this grave danger, preparing the internal front, reconciling with his opponents, uniting the ranks, and seeking the assistance of the scholars who supported him. He then began preparations for the decisive battle, and under his leadership the Muslims were thus able to achieve a crushing victory over the Mongols at the Battle of ʿAyn Jālūt. The lands of Syria were cleansed of the Mongol scourge, unity between Syria and Egypt was achieved, and a new spirit arose within the Ummah that eliminated the factors of weakness and feebleness within it.

In these times, we are in greater need than ever of these great lessons, so that we may draw inspiration from them to emerge from our state of bewilderment and discern the correct path.
