al-Durr al-Munazzam fi Manaqib al-Imam al-A'zam

The volume contains two short works by the eminent Ottoman Ḥanafī scholar Nūḥ ibn Muṣṭafā al-Rūmī al-Ḥanafī (d. 1070 AH), both concerned with the life, virtues and scholarly standing of Imām Abū Ḥanīfah.

A concise treatise on the virtues and biography of Imām Abū Ḥanīfah, arranged into seven chapters. It discusses his lineage; the Companions whom he is reported to have met and narrated from; the praise bestowed upon him by leading scholars of his own and later generations; his numerous teachers and students and the transmission of senior scholars from him; his precedence and rank in fiqh, virtues and repentance; the principles upon which his madhhab was founded; and finally his character, generosity and scrupulous piety (waraʿ).

Al-Kalimāt al-Sharīfah fī Tanzīh al-Imām Abī Ḥanīfah ʿan al-Turrahāt al-Sakhīfah — الكلمات الشريفة في تنزيه الإمام أبي حنيفة عن الترهات السخيفة

A short defence of Imām Abū Ḥanīfah against accusations and spurious stories circulated concerning him. The author responds in particular to material attributed to Imām al-Ḥaramayn al-Juwaynī in Mughīth al-Khalq fī Tarjīḥ al-Qawl al-Ḥaqq, rejecting reports which he regards as unworthy of Abū Ḥanīfah’s scholarly stature, before concluding with further remarks on the Imam’s virtues.

Together, the two treatises present complementary aspects of Abū Ḥanīfah’s legacy: the first establishes his virtues and scholarly rank, while the second answers criticisms and questionable reports concerning him
