Around the 5th century hijri, a number of works had been authored in aqidah and sifat, that were unfortunately either inclined to ta’til and denial of the sifat of Allah Ta’ala or tashbih of His sifat with that of the makhluq.
Sadly, a number of muhaddithin fell into the error of tashbih and authored works that were really dangerous and problematic.

Imam Bayhaqi authored this masterpiece to remedy this issue.

The main focus of this book is the Sifat of Allah Ta’ala.
He would take a certain sifah, bringing multiple chapters to discuss it.
He would mention the various ayat and then narrate, with sanad, whatever ahadith have been recorded on this sifah, pointing out problems in some narrations, bringing kalam of masters in lughah, tafsir and aqidah in explanation of these as well as explanations and ahkam of master muhaddithin.

The book is a masterpiece, showing how these narrations should be understood.

This edition firstly features a priceless forward by Sh Muhammad Awwamah, wherein he tackles Ibn Khuzaymah and other muhaddithin for authoring problematic works on the topic and he shows how they admitted to not being specialists in aqidah, thus their views on it shouldn’t be considered authoritative.

It then includes the valuable footnotes of Allamah Kawthari, who points out slight slip-up’s on Bayhaqi’s side or adds other fawaid.

The muhaqqiq, Sh Anas as-Sharfawi, is famous for his amazing aqidah tahqiqat and this is no exception. His dirasah on the book not only prepares you for it by giving you all the background info you require, but it also makes it clear to you that this book has been edited by a master in the field.

Edited using the best six manuscripts the editor could find, this is a beautiful, high-quality, colourful edition, that is typeset in a manner that makes reading it a pleasure.

Filled with valuable footnotes and takhrij, this book is printed in two thick volumes. The publisher could have easily printed it in 4 volumes, but probably kept it in just 2 to help keep the price down, as high-quality prints of this type are much costlier as the number of volumes increase.
