التحقيق في فقه الامام الشافعي

Imam Nawawi’s position in the Shafi’i madhab is known to all, with students and ulama being familiar with his famous works like Minhaj at-Talibin, Rawdah at-Talibin, al-Majmu etc.

Sadly, many don’t know that the most authoritative work of Imam Nawawi in fiqh is really at-Tahqiq, with the shafi’i works on Usul al-Ifta having stipulated that in in the event of different positions being narrated from him, what is in at-Tahqiq would be considered the relied-upon position.

Imam Nawawi mentions in his muqaddimah to the book:
وأرجو إن تم هذا الكتاب أن محصِّله يترجح -في معرفة الأحكام وقواعد المذهب ومعرفة الصحيح وما عليه العمل وما لا يجوز العدول عنه في مذهب الشافعي رحمه الله - على من حفظ جملا من الكتب المبسوطات لو تصور ذلك

Unfortunately, the book was never completed, with Imam Nawawi only reaching until the chapter on Salat al-Musafir.
