Allamah Haskafi’s ad-Durr al-Mukhtar is an important ifta manual, upon which dozens of shuruh and hawashi were authored, including Ibn Abidin’s famous Radd al-Muhtar.
Ad-Durr al-Mukhtar is probably the perfect book for ulama and ifta students to study, as the author not only paid special focus to mentioning the rajih view, but also discusses many furu’ that aren’t covered in the mutun we normally study.
One could then use the hawashi on the book, for further research.
Inspite of the importance of the book, there wasn’t a good muhaqqaq edition of it available.
This edition was painstakingly edited by Dr Sa’id Bakdash who gathered over two dozen manuscripts of the book, in addition to most of the shuruh and hawashi, most of which are still in manuscript form.
This edition not only corrects a large number of errors in previous editions, but also includes many valuable footnotes, which aid in the understanding of the book. This is important, as portions of the book are difficult to understand due to the brevity of the book.
Beautiful, mulawwan, high-quality edition in 5 thick volumes.
