Thus, the dearth of good encompassing works on their illustrious lives is surprising.

Mawlana Yusuf Kandelwi’s Hayat as-Sahabah is the most comprehensive work on the subject. It tackles every possible aspect of their lives, with no work, authored before him or after him, coming anywhere close.

Due to it containing a large number of narrations from works that don’t have any or much commentaries authored on them, many passages in the book were difficult to understand.
This edition includes the explanatory footnotes of a large number of luminaries, including ml In’am al-Hasan, Ml Izhar al-Hasan and Ml Habib ar-Rahman al-A’zami.
Full tashkil was also added.

While this tahqiq has been printed many times, especially in India and Pakistan, this edition from Dar Ibn Kathir of Syria is the most beautiful edition of the book. It is a high-quality, mulawwan edition in 4 thick volumes.
