Anyone who has used any major Hanafi Fiqh work would have noticed the large number of fiqh works generally quoted, especially in the later works used for fatwa like Bahr al-Ra’iq, Radd al-Muhtar etc.
A good researcher would always refer to the actual works quoted, to ensure accuracy.

The problem one generally faces is knowing who/what text is meant when fuqaha or books are quoted in classical texts.
Sometimes there are multiple works with the same or similar names? Eg. Muhit, Khulasah etc
At other times, there is just one book by that name, but how does know find out exactly which book it is, who the author is, has the book been printed etc?

Sh Luay Khalili of Jordan realised the need for a good work of this sort and decided to author one prepared on the Hashiyah of Ibn Abidin.
He first read through the entire Radd al-Muhtar, over a period of three years, collecting the names of every faqih or book quoted.
He then spent a few years, finding bios for each of the fuqaha quoted.

I helped him extensively in this, as pinpointing who was intended by a certain name was very difficult.

He also provided the khutbah/muqaddimah of many of the books quoted, very often from manuscripts and in this revised edition, even provided details of the various manuscripts for each book.
The total number of books covered is around 850!

Thus, if you need to find out what is meant by الدرر والغرر for example, you could simply open the index of this book and it would guide you to it, explaining which book is Ghurar and which is Durar, details about the author, as well as publication info on the book.

This book is a must for every Ifta student, Mufti and specialist in Hanafi fiqh.
This edition contains numerous corrections, as well as a large number of additions.

Note: Many get the name of the book wrong. It is La’ali al-Mahar (The pearls of the oysters).
