The author, Sh Safwan Dawudi, mentions that the field of Usul al-Fiqh is considered difficult for students for 3 reasons:
1- The ibarat in Usul Books are difficult and very concise
2- Usage of mantiq terminologies, which make the field seem difficult
3- Very few examples are given, which weakens the ability to implement these usuls.

He then concludes by saying that in this mukhtasar work of his, he has overcome these three obstacles.

The book is a general usul work, not restricted to any specific madhab, however the author does occasionally point out ikhtilaf in the footnotes.

This work is a good option for teaching in the second year in Madaris.
Not only would it give students a solid grounding in usul, it would also give them some exposure to the usuli terminology of other madhahib plus it would allow the students of the various madhahib in one class to all study usul together in that year.

They could then study madhab specific usul texts in the next two years.

It is a beautiful, high-quality edition.
