الشفاء في علل القراءات

al-Shifa' fi 'Ilal al-Qira'at

This book deals with the linguistic and interpretive analysis (tawjīh) of the ten Qurʾānic readings, both their general principles (uṣūl) and individual variants (farsh), as well as the preferred readings of Abū Ḥātim al-Sijistānī. It is regarded as one of the most extensive works in this field.

It begins with a biography of the author, followed by an explanation of the scholarly value of the work and the numerous sources upon which the author relied. The book is distinguished by combining analysis of both the wording and meaning of individual words, while connecting and harmonising the meanings of the various readings, bringing together analogous cases, and explaining the reasons underlying their differences and agreements.

The manuscript copies of the work are then described. The book contains numerous valuable quotations from works of Eastern Islamic scholars, some of which were taken from books that are now lost. The author also quotes extensively from leading authorities on Qurʾānic recitation and the Arabic language, having himself received the Qurʾānic readings and their underlying explanations from the leading Qurʾān reciter of the East, Imam Tāj al-Dīn al-Kirmānī.

The edition also includes the critically edited text of the work and concludes with scholarly indexes beneficial to every student and researcher in this field.

تناولَ هذا الكتابُ توجيهَ القراءاتِ العشْرِ أُصولاً وفَرْشاً واِختيارَ أبي حاتمٍ السِّجِسْتانِيِّ، حيثُ يعدُّ منْ أوسعِ الكتبِ في هذا العلمِ، فبدأَ بترجمةِ المؤلِّفِ، ثمَّ بيَّنَ قيمةَ الكتابِ العِلميةَ ومصادرَ المؤلِّفِ الكثيرةَ، كما تميَّزَ بالجمعِ بينَ التَّوجيهِ اللَّفظيِّ والمعنويِّ للكلمةِ، معَ الرَّبطِ والتأليفِ بينَ معاني القِراءاتِ والجمعِ بينَ النَّظائرِ وذِكرِ عِلَلِ اختلافِها واتِّفاقِها، ثمَّ ذكرَ النُّسخَ الخطِّيةَ للكتابِ حيثُ حوى كثيراً منَ النُّقولاتِ النَّفيسةِ عنْ كتبِ المَشارقةِ، وأخذَ بعضَها منْ كتبٍ مفقودةٍ، وتوسَّعَ في النَّقلِ عن أئمَّةِ القراءةِ والعربيةِ، حيثُ إنَّه تلقّى القراءاتِ وعِللَها على مُقرئِ المَشـرقِ الإمامِ تاجِ الدِّينِ الكِرْمانيِّ، كما أرفقَ النصَّ المحقَّقَ للكتابِ وختمَه بفهارِسَ علميةٍ تُفيدُ كلَّ طالبٍ أو باحثٍ في هذا العلم.
