The two most detailed works on Salawat/Durud are Allamah Sakhawi’s al-Qawl al-Badi’ and Allamah Ibn al-Qayyim’s Jila al-Afham.
Ibn Qayyim’s work was authored earlier, thus Sakhawi, who came later, was able to add onto it.

Sakhawi’s focus was more hadithi, focusing on gathering all the turuq and variations of the different narrations on the topic, while Ibn al-Qayyim gathered the various hadith, then focused on the meaning and fawaid of them, resulting in his work containing many fawaid not found in Sakhawi’s.

Both are very beneficial works and should be part of the collection of anyone interested in this field.

This work covers every aspect connected to salawat, including the meaning and reality of it, dozens of ahadith on its virtue and the many places/times when durud is encouraged, as well as many other relevant aspects.

This is the muhaqqaq edition of the book, edited using 5 manuscripts, under the supervision of Sh Bakr Abu Zayd and printed by Ata’at al-Ilm, the specialists on the works of Ibn al-Qayyim.
One benefit of this edition over al-Qawl al-Badi’ is kalam on every hadith by the muhaqqiq, something the muhaqqaq edition of al-Qawl al-Badi is lacking. This is important, due to the number of very weak narrations on the topic.
