Sh Safwan Dawudi is well-known by students of Usul al-Fiqh for his works like Miftah al-Usul and al-Lubab. They are used for teaching in many institutes, due to the manner in which the author presents concepts that are difficult to grasp.

This is a new work by him, also authored in a similar manner, but more advanced than his previous works.
He starts off each section with a discussion into both the lughawi and istilahi definition of the concept, quoting masters in Lughah and Usul.
He then discusses its hukm, also bringing multiple nuqul and following this up with a number of examples that help understand the concept.

Once this is done, he then moves on to the actual focus of the book, which are the various qawaid that fall under each section and their application.

Under mushtarak for example, he covers the following 5 qawaid:

- الاشتراك خلاف الأصل
- يصح حمل المشترك على معنييه أو معانيه المتناسبة معا
- يمتنع حمل المشترك على معانيه المتضادة
- الإضمار أولى من الاشتراك
- النقل أولى من الاشتراك

Each of these are covered briefly, with examples. He also points out where there exists ikhtilaf between madhahib on these Qawaid.

It is a well-written, easy to understand work, suitable for anyone furthering their studies in usul.
