Highly recommended for any student about to start his final year in Madrasah, this is a collection of durus delivered by Shaykh Awwamah in different parts of the world, from South Africa to Samarqand and Bukhara and then to Istanbul.

While the language in some of Shaykh Awwamah’s books is a bit difficult to grasp for those not accustomed to it, this book seems much easier, possibly due to his language in durus being easier to understand.

While the common theme in all these durus is the manhaj of Imam Bukhari, this book presents Shaykh Awwamah’s ground-breaking research into whether every single word in every narration in Sahih Bukhari is really sahih.

We have always taken it for granted that every hadith in Sahihayn is authentic, however what does this really mean?
Does it mean that every single version of every hadith in the book is completely sahih?Or it is possible that Imam Bukhari would at times bring a problematic version of a narration in a manner that indicates towards it being unsound?
If so, how do we know when he is doing this?

Shaykh Awwamah, throughout the various durus in the book, goes into great detail, bringing multiple examples, thereby showing us the importance of understanding the manhaj of Imam Bukhari.
A question that would arise in the minds of many is “What is the need for this? It would be opening the doors to fitnah, as Sahihayn have always been considered completely sahih”.

The reality is that this research does the completely opposite ie. it is closing the door to fitnah, by defending the Sahihayn.
How?
There have always been narrations in Sahih Bukhari that have been criticised by muhaddithin and even narrations with content used by mulhidin to attack the noble personality of Nabi sallallahu alayhi wasallam.

Many of the attempts at defending Bukhari’s bringing these seemingly incorrect narrations aren’t very convincing, leaving one wondering how a master of Bukhari’s calibre could have brought a narration of this sort in a book he paid so much attention to compiling perfectly.
This research shows that these narrations were deliberately brought by Bukhari, in a manner whereby he is informing the educated reader that there is a problem with the narration. So instead of being a blot on the book, it is another salient feature of the book.

Every student of dawrah should ensure that he reads this before starting Sahih Bukhari. Every teacher of the book should have already read it. If your teacher doesn’t have a copy, ensure that you get him one.
