Al-Hisn Al-Haseen (Arabic-English)

It is a collection of Azkaar (devotional words of remembrance)
and supplication which the compiler, Imam Jazri has selected from twenty one
books of scholars of Hadith. It has within its covers what one does not find together
in large books. This book has received such an acclaim that every book
published thereafter on this subject has drawn copiously from it. For instance,
Mulla Ali Qari composed at Hazb ul Azam and among other books, he had the Hisn
Haseen before him. The Hisn Haseen was written at a very difficult time. The Allamah
was in Damascus in those days. The enemy was at its borders engaged in
plundering and had laid a siege around Damascus. The residents were in dire
trouble. It was not an easy task writing a book in this condition. But, Allah
helped him and in those troubling times he consulted twenty five books and
composed this book. The allamah wrote it in difficult times and made it a fort
to word off the difficulty, so the ulama have made it a practice to recite it
from cover to cover when faced with anxiety. This experience is being tried for
centuries now, and prayer is accepted surely if made sincerely. Some people
have divided it into four parts to finish it in four days while some others
have divided it into seven sections to finish it in seven days. The elders get
together, seven at a time, and each recites one section and it is finished in
one sitting. Then they make the supplication. The compiler has spoken of the
aim of the book in his foreword. He has strong hope that Allah would help his
worshippers through this book and the anxiety of every Muslim would be removed
there by.
