Any student of Arabic who aspires to be proficient in the language must master the basic rules of Arabic grammar. Unlike most other languages, without a solid grounding in Arabic grammar and etymology, the text cannot even be read correctly, which will obviously result in an incorrect understanding.
While knowing the rules of Arabic grammar is necessary, even more important is to master the correct application of the rules. Merely memorising the rules will not suffice at all. Therefore, it is of fundamental importance that extensive exercises be done to the point that the correct application becomes almost natural. Apart from written exercises, many oral exercises must be a part of every lesson in order to entrench the correct application.
Masha-Allah, Moulana Ishaaq Desai Saheb and Moulana Hamzah Desai Saheb of Madrasah Da'watul Haq, Umzinto, as well as a few asaatizah of Madrasah Ta'leemuddeen, Isipingo Beach, have done an excellent job of compiling, editing and arranging the notes that have been used for many years to teach basic Arabic grammar at Madrasah Ta'leemuddeen. This compilation is now in your hands by the grace of Allah Ta'ala.
Many exercises have been added for the benefit of the students, as this is the most important part of the learning process.
