Sale Contract is one of the essential contracts in Islamic
banking. Throughout the centuries, Islamic Jurists have focused on the rulings
and provisions of the sale contract and discussed its different aspects in detail.
This book, originally a PhD thesis, sheds light on the contribution made by
Muftī Muhammad Taqi Usmani in highlighting rulings of the sale contract and
covers most of its aspects starting from the creation of the contract, the
contracting parties, the sale price, the subject of sale, rescission options,
and modes of financing applied specifically in Islamic banking.
Muftī Muhammad Taqi
Usmani a world-renowned Islamic jurists and author of dozens of books in different
fields of Shari'a and Islamic sciences including Quran exegesis, Hadith,
Islamic law and current affairs and Islamic history and travelogues. Received traditional
Islamic education at the famous Islamic seminary, Dar Al Uloom Karachi and then
received formal college degrees in Law and Economics. He was appointed as first
Judge of Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan (Islamabad). Extended Shari'a
guidance to several Islamic banks across the world and currently serving as the
Chairman of the Shari'ah Board of AAOIFI (Bahrain). Authored key references on
Islamic banking & Finance and Islamic commercial law. Dr. Yousuf Azim
Siddiqi worked for more than a decade as a Shari'a personnel in various Islamic
banks. He was associated with ADIB, Arcapita, Dubai Bank and Emirates Islamic.
B.Com. from Ness Wadia College of Commerce (Pune), MBA (Finance) from the
University of Wales (UK) and PhD. (Islamic Banking & Finance) from IIUM
Institute of Islamic Banking & Finance.
